Essential Functions:

  • Apply knowledge of electrical engineering to create electrical studies, produce detailed electrical design drawings, and evaluate existing electrical equipment.
  • Prepare electrical studies including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, grounding, and arc-flash analysis including:
    • Prepare electrical system models in SKM and ETAP
    • Write technical reports summarizing results from electrical model analysis.
    • Correctly interpret results and make appropriate recommendations
    • Participate in electrical field surveys to gather information for electrical model creation
  • Create electrical design deliverables using AutoCAD and Revit including: one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, technical specifications, lighting layouts, construction details, grounding layouts, wiring diagrams, cable tray layouts, hazardous area classifications and cable schedules using.
  • Understand best power distribution design practices and relevant codes and standards.


Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience with SKM software, formal SKM training is a plus
  • 2+ years of experience with electrical design, construction, and/or commissioning of building, facilities, and industrial complexes
  • Field experience working in and around various commercial buildings and industrial facilities
  • Solid understanding of NEC, IEEE, and NFPA standards related to short-circuit, arc flash, and protective devices
  • Experience with electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc-flash, and electrical codes
  • Excellent problem-solving, technical, and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on detail-oriented and proficient documentation
  • Effective written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities
  • Experience with electrical design, construction, and/or commissioning of building, facilities, and industrial complexes.
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Ability to travel to project locations throughout the United States for 1 to 5 days approximately every other month.
  • Experience with electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and electrical codes is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering License.

Travel:
The role grants you the choice to travel to project locations throughout the United States, with an estimated travel frequency ranging from 0% to 100%. Our team consists of engineers who are willing to engage in travel commitments that vary from approximately (5) days a week, twice per month, or even less, ensuring that your work-life balance remains under your control.

Pay:

$72,800 – $93,600 salaried, dependent on qualifications and experience

Job Location:

Lakewood or Grand Junction, Colorado preferred for local candidates / hybrid.
Remote work will be considered for strong candidates.

Deadlines and Project-Based: This role involves working on various projects, each with its own timeline and deadlines. Engineers may experience occasional periods of high workload and overtime to meet project milestones.

Safety Measures: When conducting site visits for data collection or system assessment, arc-flash analysis engineers must adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to mitigate potential risks associated with electrical equipment and arc-flash hazards.

Continuous Learning: The field of electrical engineering, especially related to arc flash analysis, is dynamic. Engineers need to stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and software advancements through ongoing professional development and training.
