Seven months of rigorous instruction covering the following safety and health inspections and surveys, bacteriological analysis of food and water, epidemiological investigations, communicable disease,
statistical analysis, disease vectors, nuclear, biological and chemical defense and response, NAVOSH/OSHA standard surveillance, environmental and occupational health.
Included courses of study in safety and emergency management as well as fire fighting technology and systems. Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) certified course of instruction.
Experience
• Leads a diverse team of 35 staff (15 active duty, 20 civilians), operating three departments providing comprehensive medical, dental, and referral management services to 3000 beneficiaries regionally. Sole point of contact for water quality analysis, public health and safety inspections, disease surveillance and monitoring.
• Manages five audiometry technicians and acts as the Hearing Conservation Program Manager which operates under Code of Federal Regulation (CFR), Title 29, Section 1910.95 and Part 1904.
• Clinic Sailor of the Year, Fiscal Year 2023.
• Managed five personnel providing occupational health and medical services to 4900 in a deployed environment. 90% operational readiness maintained.
• Lead Public Health technician, performed 600 safety and public health inspections onboard. Sole health expert onboard the Shipboard Safety Inspection team; 92% compliance with MEDIG, MRI and SOHME inspections.
• Medical Response Training Team Lead. Coordinated emergency medical response drills and managed hazards to achieve high quality training while minimizing risk to personnel.
• Combined efforts had major impact on “Blue M” and East Coast “Battle E” Award for USS John C Stennis (CVN 74).
• Managed and provided mentorship to ten junior personnel, performed as the senior subject matter expert and completed 956 inspections or surveys.
• Oversaw public health, safety and occupational health programs in the geographically largest Naval Region worldwide with 100% compliance for 3420 inspections annually.
• Created and delivered a training program to 60 untrained volunteers annually and developed a mass vaccination program that yielded 95% compliance with Department of Defense vaccination goals in less than 1 month supporting 35,000 military personnel, their families, and other beneficiaries. Program still in use today in this region.
